As first semester approaches an end, many seniors at Lincoln are either finishing the last of their college applications or are in the midst of applying. Seniors have expressed concerns about choosing a college, paying for college, and living the “college life.”

On Monday, Dec. 5, Lincoln High School opened up the long awaited salad bar for students at lunch. In the five years that Lincoln has been open, the idea for a salad bar had been presented by parents, students and teachers.

While Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the most common sexually transmitted infection, the vaccine Gardasil is available to protect against certain strains of the disease. But since Gardasil is a new vaccine, it has been the subject of some controversy.

It is crunch time as college application deadlines approach. High school seniors everywhere are working to meet the Nov. 30 deadline for UC and CSU institutions. On Saturday, November 12, 2011, Cal SOAP and Gear Up hosted a College Application and Financial Aid workshop at Lincoln High School to help with this process.
