Lincoln Falls Short of C.I.F. Championship Title

This past Friday, Lincoln played the La Costa Mavericks at USD’s Jenny Craig Pavilion for the Division II C.I.F. Championship game. They beat the Hoover Cardinals last Tuesday, 69-62 to give them a chance at a third C.I.F. title . The stadium was filled as both teams warmed up, in preparation to play. The game started out tough, with no points for the first couple of minutes. Lincoln scored first, but the Mavericks got into the swing of things and caught up quickly.
It was tough the whole game, with both teams scoring back-to-back points. The game was tightly securitized by the officials than most games. Tyrell Robinson was fouled out in the fourth quarter with 4 minutes left to play. With 2 seconds left to play in the fourth quarter, Tyree Robinson scored to tie the game 49-49. The game went into overtime.
There were 4 minutes to play in overtime, it was a tough battle. Each team scored but as time was winding down, we almost made it into double overtime. The final score was 58-54, with Mavericks taking the C.I.F. title away from us.
The Hornets will play this Wednesday, for the first round of playoffs for the State Title at 7:00 p.m. at Lincoln.
Ticket prices prior to the Regional and Championship Finals are $9 for adults and $5 for seniors (+65), children (+5) and students with a school I.D.
