BB_2-8-11 The Hornets played the La Jolla Vikings on Tuesday, February 8, 2011. The Hornets came out exceptionally strong, at the beginning of the first half Kevin Smith and Norman Powell had already sunk four three pointers.  The starting five were Javonte Byrd, Norman Powell, Rasean Simpson, Kevin Smith and Tyree Robinson.

The Hornets were playing a good offense putting up points every time they had the ball. They were shooting three pointers left and right that quickly escalated the score, at half time the score was 44-18, a 26 point lead.

Going into the third quarter, the score was 53-22 with the same starting line up. The score quickly jumped, when Tyree sunk a three pointer, with 1:23 left to play in the third quarter, the ball was going in more and more. At the end of the third quarter, the score was 68-33.

“The score allowed us to go deeper on the bench. I liked how the rotation was, hopefully we can do it next game,” said Coach Bryant.

In the fourth quarter, the Hornets were already ahead by 35 points. The rotation was in complete motion going down the bench. With a nice lead, the Hornets managed to keep the ball and make plays and pass the ball to each other. With five minutes left to play, Tyrell had a beautiful dunk that put the Hornets in a major lead. As the clock wound down, the final score was 91-42.

When asked about how the team did, Coach Jason said, “We shot the ball extremely well, and defended well.”

The Hornets play the St. Augustine Saints (away) at 4:45 p.m. on, Tuesday, February 15, 2011. This is the Hornets second time playing the Saints.

When asked about how he feels about beating the Saints, Tyree Robinson said, “I feel mentally ready, and focused on beating this team because they are not an easy team to beat.”
