id Cudi's most recent album, “Man on the Moon” is one that you should definitely check out. Music hasn’t been this creative and different in a very long time. Kid Cudi, a new artist from Cleveland, dropped his album, “Man on the Moon: The End Of Day,” September 14, 2009. The success of this album has taken Kid Cudi from being the well-known “Day & Night” artist to an innovative artist worth paying attention to. His first two singles landed in the Top 50 charts. He really has come so far from his humble beginnings, which he often speaks about in his lyrics. “Man On The Moon” is essentially Kid Cudi's canvas, where he expresses himself and his random thoughts. Anyone who appreciates good music can relate to wanting to express random thoughts through music.

Kid Cudi has been an inspiration to many young people. Unlike many contemporary hip-hop artists, his lyrics have express meaning and purpose. This new album has definitely helped Kid Cudi to extract himself from the pack of generic young rappers, who often rap about things that not many teens can relate to. Exactly 104,294 album copies were sold the first week “Man on the Moon” was released, which topped popular rapper, Drake's “So Far Gone.” 

Kid Cudi is a true, genuine music artist, and he promotes himself in a positive manner, which is a nice change from other popular rappers. He wants to express himself in ways that not many other artists have done before. He talks about how he has failed in some aspects of life, but he also talks about how he has succeeded in many other things as well. His lyrics are often inspirational in that he believes things will always get harder before they get better. Kid Cudi includes so many of his thoughts and feelings in lyrics because he knows someone can relate to and benefit from all that he has learned in life.

Parents be warned that his album is labeled, “Parental Advisory Explicit Content.” His album is not only recognized as a Hip-Hop album, he does have a mixture of R&B, Electro Rock, Pop, Electronica. There are a total of 15 tracks on “Man on the Moon.” There are some songs that stand out more than others, but three of my favorite songs off this album are, “Pursuit of Happiness”, “Soundtrack 2 My Life” and “Mr.Solo Dollo.” At the end of the day, the whole album is nothing less than a masterpiece.
