takers-1 One of the most talked about heist movies of the summer was “Takers.”  The movie starred rapper Clifford “T.I” Harris, Matt Dillon, Chris Brown, Idris Elba, Paul Walker, and Hayden Christensen. This movie is about a group of professional bank robbers who find their $20 million plan interrupted by a determined detective.  Having high hopes because like the typical good heist movies, it had guns, chases, planes, money, and luxury cars.

Senior, TyJahnae Washington, a student at the Center of Science & Engineering, said, “Actions movies are my favorite, that’s why I went to go see it, I loved it.”

The slow motion scenes left controversy about the movie being a little “cheesy.”  Other scenes kept the audience in a state of “what’s next?”  The first scene drew the audience’s attention, beginning with the group robbing a Los Angeles bank.  Some considered it the male version of the 1996 hit movie “Set It Off,” which had the same plot, except it was about four female bank robbers.

Senior, Alychia Parr, Center of Science & Engineering stated, “I think the cast had a lot to do with the reason people went to see the movie.”

Fans of the cast of “Takers” will enjoy this movie, there is enough plot to keep the audiences entertained.  Though the movie didn’t reach box office expectations making only $52.4 million.  The movie was not the best blockbuster of the summer, but maybe the best for fans of the cast.
